NDMA issues advisory amid rain, thunderstorms forecast

In light of meteorological predictions for heavier rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms in the upper, western, and central areas of the country, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a comprehensive guidance for federal and provincial agencies to ensure efficient measures to cope with calamities.

The NDMA stated that all departments concerned should remain vigilant against potential dangers in light of the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) forecast of rain-dust-thunderstorm with isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms from April 15-20 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, upper Punjab, Islamabad, and Sindh. Additionally, farmers should carry out their tasks while considering the weather forecast.

The authority has instructed all provincial disaster management authorities and agencies to take action in accordance with their respective mandates in light of the weather forecast.
