AIIB extends support for uplift projects

Jin Liqun, president of the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB), has offered Pakistan the full support and collaboration of the bank for investment and development initiatives.

The breakthrough occurred at a virtual conference between Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and the AIIB president as part of the 2023 World Bank Spring Meetings and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Aisha Ghaus Pasha, Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, Tariq Bajwa, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Finance, Tariq Mehmood Pasha, and special secretary for finance virtually joined the meeting from Islamabad. Masood Ahmad Khan, the ambassador of Pakistan to the US, Jamil Ahmad, the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the finance secretary, and the secretary of the Economic Affairs Division were present in person at the conference in Washington.

Dar informed Liqun of the government’s economic policies and reforms for sustainable economic development, according to a statement released by the finance ministry on Saturday. He also presented the country’s current economic prognosis.
The finance minister praised the AIIB president for his ongoing assistance to Pakistan in fostering the nation’s sustainable economic growth.
